MASCOTTE, Fla (WESH). — A 16-year-old was shot and critically injured during a home invasion, Mascotte police say.
According to officials, Mascotte officers responded to an in-progress home invasion at Pine Needle Drive just after 6 a.m. on Dec. 28. There, they located a teenage male suspect who was shot by the homeowner.
The suspect was treated by Lake County EMS before being transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center. Officials say he is listed in critical condition.
According to officers, nobody in the home was injured and they are cooperating in the investigation.
Officers believe the suspect may be linked to an earlier call of a young man attempting to break into another residence in that area.
This is an ongoing investigation.
